Which SMTP port should you use: 587, 465 or 2525?

587 — submission with STARTTLS, the standard. 465 — implicit TLS, connection is encrypted from the first byte. 2525 — an unofficial fallback many networks leave open when 587/465 are blocked.

All three require authentication. Pick 587 unless your network blocks it.
